Classroom Heat Index Project
Project
UbiBot ® wireless sensors have been installed in various public schools in Puerto Rico. The sensors monitor real time indoor environmental conditions and use WiFi to share the data across any device. Our study will be focused on the heat index values experienced by students within the classroom setting.
Puerto Rico, as many tropical locations, experiences warm and humid weather all year round. Recent research has shown that being acclimated in tropical climates will increase the optimal indoor conditions for learning, increasing classroom performance (Porras-Salazar, 2018). As a result, we will be observing the number of hours students are exposed heat index values above comfortable levels for optimum learning in classrooms.
